During the visit, Syria’s Awqaf Minister Muhammed Abdul Sattar and president of the Arab country’s Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Society Abdullah Nizam in speeches highlighted the position and role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in fighting terrorism and in ensuring regional security and stability.  

The president also delivered a speech at a gathering of different groups of people, Syrian scholars from different Islamic schools of thought, and families of martyrs, commanders and fighters of the axis of resistance.

Before the pilgrimage to the holy shrine, he also held talks with families of martyrs of the resistance front from Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iran, and other countries.

Raeisi arrived in Syria earlier on Wednesday for a two-day visit aimed at enhancing ties between the two friendly countries.

He and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad held talks in Damascus and then they signed a comprehensive agreement on long-term and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

This is the first visit by an Iranian president to Syria in over 13 years.

The holy shrine of Hazrat Zeynab (SA) in Zeynabiya Neighborhood of Damascus is a pilgrimage site visited by millions of Muslims from across globe every year.
