Exhibition of Quranic Manuscripts Underway in Pakistani Capital

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An exhibition of the rare and ancient manuscripts of the Holy Quran is underway in the Pakistani capital on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

It was inaugurated in Islamabad on Monday.

The exhibition has been organized by Iranian Embassy and the Iran Pakistan Persian Research Center and inaugurated by Chairman Islamic Ideology Council Dr Qibla Ayaz and Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Syed Muhammad Ali Hussieni. Iranian Cultural Counselor Ehsan Khazaei was also present on the occasion.

A large number of calligraphers, activists and art lovers participated in the event. The exhibition includes dozens of original manuscripts of the Quran, some of which are accompanied by Persian translations.

Talking to media on the occasion Dr Qibla Ayas appreciated the cultural initiative of the Iranian Embassy and described the enthusiastic participation of people in the exhibition of Quranic manuscripts as a manifestation of the long-standing friendship between the people of Iran and Pakistan.

The Iranian ambassador said holding the exhibition is a step towards establishing intimacy with the Quran, which informs the people and those interested in Quranic culture about the wonderful, unique and handwritten versions of the Holy Quran.

He said that the existence of 800-year-old copies of the Holy Quran is an emphasis on the historical status of the legacy of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallahu Alaihe wa Alihe Wasallam Khatam-un-Nabiyyeen. He said Holy Quran is an essential axis for the unity and closeness of the hearts of the Islamic Ummah.

In the exhibition, along with 45 Quranic manuscripts, calligraphy panels and works of art are presented and placed before the public. These Qurans are written in beautiful Nastaliq, Thulth Naskh calligraphy, and some of them are decorated with gold water and other colors and patterns of flowers and shrubs.
