In a message to his Lebanese opposite number Michel Aoun on Sunday, Rouhani congratulated Aoun and the people of Lebanon on the Arab country’s Independence Day.
In his message, the Iranian president said the Islamic Republic will continue to stand by the Lebanese and is ready to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields.
He also praised Lebanon for its resistance and steadfastness in difficult days.
Lebanon gained independence in 1943 after 23 years of living under a French mandate.
The occasion, celebrated on November 22, is traditionally marked by a military parade in downtown Beirut, but this year all celebrations have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
