Hassan Suleiman, the head of the radio station, said the programs in the holy month would include those about Islamic personalities, literary programs, answering religious questions and Quran recitations by prominent Qaris.

There will also be live programs covering Quranic and religious activities in Egypt and in Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Arabia, he said, al-Aharam reported.

He went on to say that Egypt’s Quran Radio is one of the oldest and most popular radio stations in the Muslim world.

Suleiman attributed the popularity to the radio’s focus on the message of the Quran and its efforts to avoid controversial issues.

Egypt is an Arab country in North Africa. More than 90 percent of Egyptians are Muslim.
