KUALA LUMPUR (IQNA) –  The 60th edition of Malaysia’s international Quran competition will wrap up in an awarding ceremony on Saturday evening.

Like the opening ceremony on Monday, the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur will host the closing event.

According to IQNA dispatches, the ceremony will begin at 9:10 local time with the playing of Malaysia national anthem.

Malaysia’s king, Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan, who was absent in the opening function, is expected to attend and address Saturday’s ceremony.

Winners of the top ranks in the two categories, namely recitation and memorization of the Quran, in both men and women sections will be announced and awarded at the ceremony.

It will also include recitation of verses from the Quran by the winner of the top prize in the recitation category.

According to organizers, winners of the three top titles in each category will be awarded cash prizes ranging from 10,000 ringgits to 70,000 ringgits.

Other contenders will receive 3,000 ringgits each as consolation prize.

Iran’s representative Mokhtar Dehqan, who performed his recitation on Thursday, is among the favorites to win the recitation category.

Last year, Iranian Qari Hamed Alizadeh came first in this category as did his fellow-countryman Mohsen Hajihassani Kargar in 2015.
