According to dar-alquran.org website, Morteza Ali was selected to compete for the Arab country in the international Quranic event after winning the top title in Iraq’s national Quran contest for the visually-impaired.
He took part in the memorization category and came first.
Morteza Ali is a student of Quran memorization courses for the blind held by the Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine.
According to Ali Aboud Taei, an official with the center, the national Quran contest for the blind was organized by the National Quran Center affiliated to the Shias Awqaf Department.
He noted that 25 Quran memorizers and Qaris took part in the two categories of the competition, namely memorization and recitation.
The 3rd edition of the international Quran competition for the visually-impaired is slated to be organized in Tehran in April along with several other international Quranic events, including the 35th edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Quran Competition.
