Speaking to IQNA, Sheikh Saeed Qassem, head of the political group “Islamic Association of Palestine”, said the attack was a prelude to the defeat of Israel and liberation of Palestine.
He said while Israel had been seeking to win a psycho war against Hezbollah through violating the Lebanese airspace, the resistance movement foiled the Zionist plot by retaliating powerfully.
Sheikh Qassem also said the Hezbollah operation against Israeli forces was a humiliating defeat for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that would undermine his position in the upcoming elections in Occupied Palestine.
Last Sunday, Hezbollah targeted an Israeli military vehicle near the border with the occupied Palestinian lands, killing and injuring all forces on-board.
The operation was carried out by two fighter groups who targeted two Israeli vehicles. One of the vehicles escaped the Lebanese fighters’ fire, but the other one was totally destroyed leaving all those onboard killed or injured.
It came after Hezbollah leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Saturday that Israel “must pay a price” for its attacks earlier this month into a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
He said giving a proper response to Israel over the drone incursions was about “establishing the rules of engagement and ... the logic of protection” for Lebanon.
