Speaking at a meeting in Beirut called “Sovereignty for Peace and Prosperity”, Sheikh Hussein al-Daihi, Al-Wefaq’s deputy secretary general, said the Manama conference is a failure even before it is held, adding that it will be thrown into the dustbin of history.
He also slammed those who are going to attend the conference and praised those who have boycotted it.
The US-led conference will be held in the Bahraini capital on June 25-26.
It is considered as the economic phase of US President Donald Trump’s ‘Deal of the Century’.
The Palestinian authority has announced it would boycott the Manama summit. In addition to Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon announced their boycott also.
Meanwhile, countries such as Egypt, Jordan and Morocco have informed Washington of their plans to send representatives to the conference, which seeks to unveil the economic aspects of the US scheme on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Washington has withheld details about its plan, but various leaks have revealed that it seriously compromises Palestinians’ rights and grievances.
