Int’l Tajweed Festival Planned in Morocco

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 7th international festival of Tajweed will be held in Morocco in January.

 

According to chouftv.ma website, head of the organizing committee Hassan al-Khabbaz said the central-western city of Casablanca will host the Quranic program on January 22-25.

He added that the committee is making all-out efforts to hold the event successfully based on the approaches taken in previous years.

A number of senior Qaris and Quranic figures of the country, including Sheikh Saeed Muslim, Sheikh Muhammad al-Kintawi, Abdul Majid al-Suwairi and Yasin al-Shahb were honored in the previous editions of the festivals.

Tajweed has to do with the rules that govern pronunciation when we are reciting the Quran.

It covers the guidelines on how Arabic alphabets should be pronounced, places to pause, stop or keep going during recitation, when to elongate the pronunciation of an alphabet, etc. It covers the characteristics of Arabic alphabets and how they interact with each other such that they can take different forms.
