Suspected Daesh Members Arrested in India’s Kolkata

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police in India said the forces have arrested four suspected members of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), including three Bangladeshi nationals.

 

The arrested individuals were also active members of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa Bangladesh.

Md Jiaur Rahman and Mamour Rashid, both Bangladeshi nationals, were arrested late on Monday night from Sealdah railway station parking area.

Kolkata Police arrested them from the vicinity of Sealdah station parking lot and recovered a mobile phone containing photos, videos and extremist text and literature books.

Based on the statements of the two above, other members of the same outfit Neo - JMB/Daesh were arrested from the vicinity of Howrah Railway Station. Police also recovered extremist literature from their possession.

The two others were identified as Md. Sahin Alam alias Alamin of Bangladesh and Robiul Islam of Nayagram, Birbhum in West Bengal.

The three arrested Bangladeshi nationals had taken shelter in India to escape arrest in Bangladesh and were involved in recruitment and collection of funds for the outfit in India.

The arrested Indian national was also a member of the organization who helped the three others by harboring as well as recruiting and collecting funds from India.

They were active on social media, propagating their agenda with volumes of digital documents, videos and audio files along with extremist booklets.

Police say the main motive of their organization was to overthrow governments in India and Bangladesh.
