Iran Presents 500 Books at Karbala Book Fair

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Cultural Center in Baghdad has presented 500 book titles at the 15th edition of the international book fair in the holy city of Karbala.

 

The center announced that the books covers religious and historical issues, studies of Iran, arts, Persian language and literature, tourism, the Islamic Revolution and Imam Khomeini’s (RA) thoughts and biography.

The 10-day book fair has been organized by the Astans (custodianships) of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrines.

It opened on April 5 in a ceremony attended by Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalayi, representative of Ayatollah Sistani and custodian of the Astan of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine.

As many as 140 publishers from Iraq as well as Lebanon, Tunisia, the US, Egypt, Iran, Syria and Jordan have participated at the book fair.

It has been organized in line with the cultural programs of the 15th edition of the “Rabee’-ul-Shahadah” international religious-cultural festival.

Abbas Ma’an Ali, director of the book fair said that the books and cultural products presented at this year’s book fair cover various topics to meet the needs of different age groups and academic figures and seminarians.

The annual international festival is being held on the occasion of Sha’ban Eids (the birthday anniversaries of Imam Hussein (AS), Imam Sajjad (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS)) in the holy city of Karbala.
