CAIR to Challenge Texas Anti-BDS Law
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) plans to hold a news conference in Austin, Texas, to announce a major First Amendment legal challenge to that state’s “No Boycott of Israel” or “anti-BDS” law enacted last year.
The news conference is slated for Monday, December 17.
The plaintiff in the lawsuit, as well as CAIR attorneys and CAIR-Austin staff, will be available for comment at the event.
In one case, the anti-BDS law in Texas was used to make eligibility for Hurricane Harvey relief funds contingent on political beliefs regarding Israel.
CAIR is the United States’ largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.
