Competition for Visually-Impaired Wraps Up in Tehran

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Three Qaris and three memorizers of the entire Quran were announced as top winners in a competition held in Tehran Sunday to choose Iran’s representatives in the 4th edition of the International Quran Competition for the Visually-Impaired.

  

Thirteen Qaris and 17 memorizers from 18 provinces of the country took part in the one-day contest.

The panel of judges announced Ahmad Dabbaq from Qom province, Abdol Ghafour Joharchi from Razavi Khroasan and Abdollah Mohammadnejad from Sistan and Baluchestan as the top rank winners in the category of recitation.

In memorization, Saeed Ali Akbari from Qazvin, Omid Reza Rahimi from Gilan and Saeed Hassanshahi fro, Fars came first to third.

The six will take part in a preparation program before two of them, one Qari and one memorizer, are selected to represent the Islamic Republic in the upcoming international Quran contest.

The 4th International Quran Competition for the Visually-Impaired is slated to be held in Tehran in May 2019.

In the 2018 edition of the event, Mohammad Taqi Karimi from Golestan province and Omid Reza Rahimi from the province of Gilan competed for Iran.
