TEHRAN (IQNA) – Algeria’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs plans to launch Quranic kindergartens in mosques in which four and five year old kids can learn the Quran.

According to al-Nahar online, the Quranic teaching courses at the kindergartens will be free.

The ministry said the kids learn verses of the Quran as well as basic grammar of the Arabic language to help them get ready for school.

All mosques can take part in the plan, which will be implemented under the supervision of imams and religious committees.

The kindergartens will be launched in the beginning of the new school year in October.

They will be affiliated to the Awqaf ministry not the education ministry.

Algeria is an Arab country in North Africa. Muslims make up about ninety-nine percent of the country’s population.
