Participants Happy to Be Part of Dubai Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – 22-year-old Shokhan Ualiyev represents Kazakhstan in the 22nd edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award.

 

Ualiyev started memorizing the Quran at the age of 14 and finished at 17. "I study Sharia at the Tribuli University in Lebanon," he told MENAFN. "My parents have encouraged me and my three brothers to memories the Quran."

Ualiyev has competed in several international competitions as in Turkey, Malaysia, Bahrain, before taking part in the Dubai award. "I have also secured advanced positions at several local competitions."

Showing an exceptional performance, Ualiyev has been nominated by the Iftaa department for this global competition. "I wish to be a scholar of Shariah and Quran teacher."

Mohamed Abdallah Brema Abdalkareem, 21-year-old from Sudan, started memorizing the Quran at the age of eight and finished at 12 with the help of his parents who also encouraged his 10 brothers and sisters to memorize the Quran in West Darfur. "I study the Qiraat or schools of recitation at the Holy Quran University in Umm Dorman."

Abdalkareem participated in several local Quran competitions and one abroad in Djibouti. "I used to study Shariah sciences since childhood."

Showing an exceptional performance, he has been nominated by the Ministry of Awqaf in Sudan.

Murushidul Ameen, 17-year-old from the Maldives started memorizing the Quran at the age of 13 and finished at 16 with the help of his teacher Sheikh Shihab at the mosque. "My mother was also a great help for me and my three brothers."

The international competition is annually held on Ramadan 1 to 20 under the sponsorship of the vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.
