TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s representative at Jordan’s international Quran competition went on the stage to showcase his Quranic talents on the first day of the contest.

The 26th edition of the Arab country’s international Quran competition kicked off in Jordan on Sunday, May 13.

Peyman Ayazi from Iran was among the six memorizers from different counties whose turn for answering questions raised by the panel of judges was on Sunday morning.

He told IQNA later that he was happy with his performance.

“Fortunately, I had a very successful performance and answered all five questions of the panel of judges without any problems.”

Ayazi said he had been asked to recite from memory verses from Surahs (chapters) Baqara, Ana’am, Ra’ad, Shuara, and Fussilat.

The competition is being held in the morning and afternoon sessions until Tuesday.

Winners will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Thursday.

Ayazi has previously represented Iran in Quran competitions in countries like Russia, Algeria, Tunisia and Kuwait.
