TEHRAN (IQNA) – The deputy of the Cultural and Educational Committee of Iran’s Arbaeen Pilgrimage Headquarters said translations of works on Arbaeen have been presented at the 31st edition of the Tehran International Book Fair.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shariftabar told IQNA that the activities and publications of the committee on Arbaeen have also been introduced at the exhibition.

The books on display include translations into Urdu, Arabic, English, Turkish and French, he said.

He added that the committee has also presented more than 100 cultural, digital and audio-video products including e-books at the exhibition aiming to promote the Arbaeen culture and better introduce the pilgrimage to the visitors.

Arbaeen marks the 40th day after Ashura, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the 680AD Battle of Karbala.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias march toward Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

The 31st edition of the Tehran International Book Fair kicked off in the Iranian capital on May 2.

The Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) is hosting the cultural event, which will run until May 12.
