Palestinian Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs Sheikh Yousif Ideis said he expected that the Israeli aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy city of Quds will increase after the US president’s move to recognize the city as the Zionist regime’s capital, Safa News Agency reported. 

The minister pointed out that the Israeli occupation had carried out more than 95 violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Quds and the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron in November. 

Meanwhile, he said that the Israeli occupation is Judaizing Quds by cutting off Palestinian residential neighborhoods from it. He also noted that Israel is changing the city through its policy of Judaizing “every Islamic and Arabic site”, excavation works and the demolition of Arab and Muslim cemeteries.

Ideis further said that preventing Palestinians and Arabs from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque or the city of Quds and putting restrictions on the worshippers who enter the mosque also contributes to changing the nature of the city.

The minister revealed that the Israeli occupation has tightened security measures around the Lions Gate and the Old City by setting up large checkpoints.

At the same time, he said, Israeli settlers increased their raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
