Rare Quran Manuscript Seized at Cairo Airport
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A rare manuscript copy of the Holy Quran was seized at the international airport in Cairo, Egypt.
According to al-Yawm a-Sabi newspaper, someone had intended to smuggle it, along with another religious manuscript, to the United Arab Emirates.
The customs office at the airport noticed the package and seized it before loading.
The Quran manuscript dates back to the year 1322 in the lunar Hijri calendar (1904).
The two handwritten copies will be given to a special committee at Egypt’s National Library and Archives Center.
