The ceremony was organized by the Dar-ol-Quran center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in cooperation with Basra-based Wahat al-Quran institute.

Mansouri and a number of the Qaris of the Astan recited verses from the Quran at the memorial event for the people who were martyred in last week’s terror attacks in Dhi Qar province.

On Thursday, twin gun and car bomb attacks striking Iraq’s southern province of Dhi Qar left more than 150 people, including several Iranian pilgrims, dead.

One of the attacks occurred close to a restaurant near the city of Nasiriyah, the capital city of Dhi Qar province, situated about 370 kilometers (225 miles) southeast of the capital, Baghdad.

A car bomb in the same area targeted a security checkpoint shortly afterwards.

Hours later, the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for both attacks.
