TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dar-ol-Quran center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala has conducted over 40 successful Quranic programs since its establishment, its director said.

Speaking to IQNA, Sheikh Hassan al-Mansouri said the center was founded on the Eid of Mabbath (call to prophethood) in 1429 Hijri (July 2008) to promote Quranic activities.

He said that since then, it has successfully organized 40 Quranic plans, including Quran teachers training courses, and specialized courses for others, such as university and seminary students and even prisoners.

The specialized courses feature teaching Quran memorization and recitation as well as Tafseer (interpretation), among others, Mansouri said.

He underlined that training qualified Quran teachers as a main contribution to the development of the Quranic culture and sciences has been high on the agenda of the center.

So far, more than 3,000 Quran teachers have taken the courses and received certificates, he noted.

Holding Quran recitation sessions for the armed forces, religious students and university students, and organizing religious and Quranic festivals are among the other activities of the Dar-ol-Quran, according to the official.

It also publishes Quranic books and magazines on different themes and every year attends the International Quran Exhibition in Tehran, he said.

As for its international activities, Mansouri said it has implemented various Quranic programs in countries like those in Southeast Asia.
