TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Iranian IRGC commander described the recent election in Lebanon as a referendum in which the Lebanese people underlined their support for the Hezbollah resistance movement.

In a speech, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani said Hezbollah’s victory in the vote came despite all the attempts by enemies who accused the resistance movement of interfering in the affairs of regional countries like Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

He noted that Saudi Arabia spent millions of dollars to prevent Hezbollah’s victory but all in vain.

Major General Soleimani went on to say that as a result of the vote, Hezbollah turned from a reistance movement to a resistance government and “this is a great victory.”

On May 6, the Lebanese people voted for their favorite candidates competing for 128 parliamentary seats.

Hezbollah and its political allies won more than half of the seats in the polls.
